Gobi Express


Day 1. Arrive in UB & Explore Chinggis Khaan Statue
Arrive in UB airport and meet by our crew. Drive 2-3hrs (85km) to west through Ulaanbaatar and reach “Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex”. Chinggis khan statue complex is located 54 km from Ulaanbaatar among beautiful natural scenery on the bank of river Tuul, in the place called “Tsonjin Boldog”, memorial place connected with historic events. Thereafter, we drive to Terelj National park and have lunch at one of the ger camps with a beautiful view. After lunch, we will visit Turtle rock and Aryapala temple. Evening drive back to UB. Overnight in 4/5* hotel. (LD)
Day 2. Flight to Dalanzadgad & Explore Yolin Am, Hongoryn Els Transfer to UB airport for the flight to Dalanzadgad, the capital of South Gobi (Umnugovi aimag), /1.20 hrs. Drive to west 45kms and reach Yoliin Am Valley. The Valley is in the Zuun Saikhan Mountain, located in the centre of South Gobi aimag. The narrow Valley between high rock walls has breathtaking dramatic scenery, and no doubt is one of the beautiful places in the country. In rainy summers hundreds of small waterfalls appear in the rocky walls. After the excursion drive to Gobi Mirage, lunch will be bit late depending on how much time groups want to spend for hiking in Yol valley. After lunch drive to Hongryn Els dunes. The 200-meter high sand dunes in Sevrei soum, South aimag, are called Hongoryn Els. These dunes are 20 km wide and 100 km long. The Hongoryn River flows along the sand dunes and gives birth to oases. Visit the dunes with camel riding. Overnight in ger of the tourist camp. (BLD).
Day 3. Drive to Bayanzag In the early morning, we will take another drive for few hours to Flaming Cliffs, site known for the first discovery of dinosaur eggs and unique landscape. Known to westerners as The Flaming Cliffs, Bayan Zag (Rich with Saxaul) is famed for its’ red sandstone cliffs which take on beautiful red and orange hues during sunset. Sculptural Saxaul trees grow in the arid rocky soil. The area is also recognized as one of the world’s largest dinosaur graveyards. In 1921, the American Roy Chapman Andrews discovered here some of the most important Paleontological findings of the last century. Since then, hundreds of archeological expeditions have come to this remote desert location, and even today with the assistance of local people dinosaur fossils continue to be found in the area. Try your luck for dinosaur fossils here. After picnic lunch, drive towards tourist camp -Juulchin Gobi1. Overnight in ger of the tourist camp. (BLD).
Day 4. Drive back to UB Full day drive to north-east towards UB. On the way, we stop for lunch near Baga Gazryn Chuluu Nat. Park. Visit the stones Valley walking and runes of the Sacred Monastery. The monastery is built on the small island in the middle of Lake Burd Nuur by local Mongolians in 16th century. Continue our driving and reach UB. Overnight in 4/5* hotel. 4×4 Adventure in Mongolian Altai Mountains


Day 1. Arrive in UB & City tour Arrive in Mongolia’s capital, Ulaanbaatar. Take an approximately 45-minute car transfer to your hotel. After short freshen up, we will do city tour starting from Gandan monastery, Sukhbaatar main square, the winter palace of Bogd Jabzan Damba Hutagt VIII, Zaisan Memorial, State department store, Museum of Dinosaurs. Day 2 Terelj NP & Chinggis Khan Statue We will be taking a private bus 2-3hrs (85km) to west through Ulaanbaatar and reach “Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex”. Chinggis khan statue complex is located 54 km from Ulaanbaatar among beautiful natural scenery on the bank of river Tuul, in the place called “Tsonjin Boldog”, memorial place connected with historic events. Day 3 Flight to Ulgii city Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park via TsagaanGol (White River) valley and through Altai Mountains that are Mongolia’s largest and highest mountain range at over 3000-4000 meters high. Some ancient Turkic stones can also be seen along the way. We will pitch camp next to parking station. Tavanbogd means “the Holy Five” referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Overnight in tent. (BLD)s (approx. 200 B.C.). The Huns were the reason for the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi to build the Great Wall of China. Overnight in nomadic style gers. Set up toilet and shower tents. (BLD)
Day 4 Explore Altai Mountains Trek to the Altai Tavan Bogd referring to the peak “Huiten ”, the highest- 4374m. Tavan Bogd means “The Holy Five ” and the peaks are named Huiten (4374m the highest), Naran, Malchin, Burged and Nairamdal. Enjoy this stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif snow-capped peaks. You will reach out the 30km long enormous Potanin’s glacier, 2 million years old, an ancient ice river that was discovered in the 19th century. (BLD)
Day 5 Visit Twin Lakes After breakfast, we drive towards the Khoton & Khurgan lakes & the steppe valleys of the lake area. We pitch camp on the shores of Hoton Lake, where you will find numerous petroglyphs. The area is below the snow-capped Ikh Turgen Uul. We are now only 15km from the China border. The largest subspecies of Mongolian Grayling (Thymallus arcticus) is easily fished here. The numerous Great Cormorants in the vicinity are a good indicator that there are plentiful fish in the lakes. We will do a soft hiking towards the Baga Turgen water fall & get back to the camping location in the evening. Overnight in tent. (BLD)
Day 6 Explore Lakes After breakfast, hike along Hurgan Nuur and Hoton Nuur, where many Nomadic Kazakh families spend summer. After the wooden bridge on the water channel between the Lakes, we drive to north along the Hoton Lake about 12kms and reach 3 small Rocky Mountains – Biluut 1, 2 and 3. Here you can see the many rock printings (petro-glyphs). Overnights in nomadic style or in tents (subject to availability). (BLD)
Day 7 Baga Turgen Waterfall We will drive 30 mins to the parking station then take horses to the breathe taking water fall located among high mountains. Lunch will be served in a lunch box & get back to the camping location in the evening. Overnight in tent. (BLD)
Day 8 Drive to Sagsai village & stay with a nomad family After breakfast, we drive to Sagsai village for 3-4 hrs. We will visit a Eagle hunter family. Learn about their daily lives and have a Western Mongolian traditional meal for the dinner with the family. Overnight in Nomad’s ger. (BLD)
Day 9 Drive back to Ulgii city After breakfast, we drive back to Ulgii & check in to local hotel. In the afternoon, we will explore local museum, bazaar & souvenir shops around the city. (BLD)
Day 10 Flight back to UB After early breakfast, transfer to Ulgii airport and take a flight (2 hours) to UB. Meet our guide and transfer to hotel. Today you will have a free day to do shopping and exploring the capital of Mongolia. After checking in, venture out and explore the sprawling city of retro architecture, thrilling nightlife, wild traffic and exciting commerce. There’s plenty to see, do and eat. Overnight in hotel. Day 11 International Departure Early breakfast and transfer to UB airport. Take a flight back to home. (B)

Russian Altai & Mongolia Drive

Day 1 Gorno Altaisk Teletskoe Lake (168km) Gorno-Altaisk- Teletskoe Lake (168 km, 3 hrs)
rrival to Gorno-Altaysk, meeting at the airport. Drive to the Artyubash village that is located on the Shore of Teletskoe Lake. The steep rocky shores of the lake, covered with larch and birch trees, are impassable. Teletskoye Lake impresses the travelers with the touch of majestic beauty. After lunch we do a boat trip to the station of Altayisky nature reserve and the travelers make a quick excursion to the famous Korbu waterfall. Overnight at wooden hotel. (BLD)
Day 2 Katun River (215 km)
We travel up the Katun River to Chemal village to visit the small and spectacularly located nunnery of Patmos monastery, situated on a rocky island in the river and accessible by a hanging bridge. Overnight at wooden hotel. (BLD)
Day 3 Chemal Sarlyk Mountain  Boochi (350 km) Drive to the top of Semeinskii pass, where we hike to Sarlyk Mountain, the highest point of the Seminsky Mountain, Central Altai. The name means ” wild yak” in Altaian and on the slopes one can usually find herds of yaks. The mountain is on the border of Shebalinskiy and Ongudai regions of the Altai Republic and from the top there are stunning views of the whole area. After lunch we continue to the village of Boochi where we spend time meeting local Altaian families and discovering local archaeological sites like graves and petroglyphs. We hope also to meet a local shaman if possible. Overnight at wooden hotel. (BLD)
Day 4 Pazyryk burialz & Chulishman valley (240 km)
Today we drive about 120 kms to explore most interesting Pazyryk burials in Altai. Mounds is located in the tract Pazyryk on the right bank of the River Bolshoi Ulagan, on the road from Ulagan (16 km) to the village Balyktuyul. The name “Pazyryk” comes from the Tuvan “bazyryk” – “Mound.” Burial mounds are the graves of tribal or tribal chiefs, built mostly in the VI-III centuries. BC A chain of five mounds stretching from north to south along the great valley a few kilometers from Balyktuyul. Then we drive to Chulishman valley. The Valley of Chulyushman River from bird’s-eye view looks like a famous Grand Canyon in Colorado. It is an awesome picture of vertical gigantic walls, cut with the dry beds of waterfalls and the blue line of a river, pressed between the rocks deep underneath. This area is considered to be the remotest and the most untouched in the Altai region. Nature of the area, staggers by its wildness and primordial beauty. Canyons, cascade, the Red Gate Rocks, the Tcheikkel (Dead Lake) cluster around the road from Aktash to Ulagan. Overnight at wooden hotel. (BLD)
Day 5 Excursion to Aktru Glacier (167km)
We are away into the Aktru mountains today by our 4WD vehicle and then on foot for an hour or two to the terminal of the Aktru glacier. The vehicle takes us the first 30km; across the steppe and up the 4×4 truck through the fir forest to the Aktru mountaineering base from where we set out on foot to climb the moraine for views and a picnic lunch. The 4×4 truck climbs steeply until it reaches the hanging valley of the upper Aktru River and there are fords to cross the braided river bed. Overnight at wooden hotel. (BLD)
Day 6-7 To the Eshtykkel Plateau
Today we drive to the beautiful Eshtykel plateau called the “Ukok in miniature”. We stop near Dzhangyskol Lake that is often called Eshtykel Lake. The lake is located on a 1,750 meters altitude plateau in the valley of the Chuya River between North Chuya and Kurai ranges. Small pass separates Eshtykel plateau from Kurai steppe. The Eshtykel plateau called the “Ukok in miniature”. It is better to climb to the top of hill in order to see the plateau in all its glory. The mountains are reflected in the mirrored surface of the lake Eshtykel that creates a feeling of a holiday in the heart of the tourist. Overnight at wooden hotel. (BLD)
Day 8 Drive to Khovd Town
Drive to South and reach Hovd town. The Hovd town was a trade center, located on the northern Silk Road with connections to Russia and China. In 1763 the Manchu administration built the fortress Sagijn Cherem (Castle). An area of about 4 ha was fenced with 3m high and 2m wide walls. Now all 18 Mongolian ethic groups live in this province. Have a lunch. After driving to south about 30km from Hovd town, we will see the Khar Us Nuur National Park, where WWF Mongolia is very active. The largest of the lakes is Khar Us Nuur (Black Water Lake).The great lakes basin has the largest reed beds in all of Central Asia, with many bird species as well as Saiga Antelope, the rare Wild Boar (in the reeds!), Snow Leopards, Gazelle, Wolves etc. We will move from the desert steppes to Altai Mountains. The nomads live from livestock herding. We continue our driving and reach small village Darvi. Overnight at local hotel. (BLD)
Day 9 To Delger Valley
Drive about 380km by desert open area between two big mountain ranges and reach the Delger valley-big open steppe area. Overnight near village Unen Us (true water), which only water-well around and why many nomads with their animals live here. You have a chance to visit one of nomadic families. Overnight at local hotel. (BLD)
Day 10 To Gobi Lakes
Today is a long drive to east, through big open steppe area. We will move from Altai Mountains to steppe areas. We will reach the remote Lake Orog and camp. The nomads live from livestock herding. However, by international standards, it is not densely populated. Near the sands they keep Bactrian Camels. Orog Lake and its immediate surroundings. The lake sits next to Ikh Bogd (Big Holy) Mountain (3957m) at 1200m above sea level. There are also some nearby sand dunes. Tuin River empties into the lake from its journey from Hangai Mountains. The abundance of food attracts plenty of birds. There is a small island with some 60 pairs of Grey Herons nesting on the ground! The world’s longest fault line is visible through the terrain. It came about in 1957 and extends for some 270km westwards from Orog Lake. Overnight at local hotel. (BLD) The Gobi Desert is a vast zone of desert and desert steppe covering almost 30 percent of the Mongolian territory. The area is often imagined as a lifeless desert like in many other parts of the world. In reality, most part of the Gobi Desert is a land of steppes and it is the home for camel breeders rich with wildlife and vegetation. Wild asses, camels, snow leopards, mountain sheep and gazelles flourish here, as do different types of flora.Dinosaur skeletons and their petrified eggs have been preserved here to the present day. Mongolians consider that there are 33 different Gobi, where sandy desert occupies only 3 percent of the total territory. Climate is extreme with 40 degrees Celcius in summer and severe winter.
Day 11 To Hongoryn Els
Full day driving to south-east, we come out from mountain area into gobi area with small hills. Reach Khongorin Dunes, the biggest sand dunes in all Asia.The 800-meter high sand dunes in Sevrei soum, South aimag, are called Khongoryn Els. These dunes are 20 km wide and 100 km long. The Khongoryn River flows along the sand dunes and gives birth to oases. Visit the dunes with camel riding. Visit a local camel breeding family and learn about their breeding programs. The best of Kazakhstan Altai Mountains


Day 1. Arrive Nursultan Airport Meeting by our guide in Nursultan airport and transfer to a hotel. Lunch in Kazakh traditional restaurant and a sightseeing tour round Nursultan, visit the Baiterek Tower, Central Historical Museum of the Republic Kazakhstan, Exhibition Center. Welcome dinner. Day 2. Flight to Oskemen and Visit Old Believers (260 km) Take a flight to Oskemen (Kazakh Altai ) and meet by local guide. Welcome lunch in Kazakh Traditional Restaurant. After lunch, we drive to north-east and come to one of Old Believer’s family. Evening drive back to Oskemen and overnight in 4/5* hotel. (BLD)
Day 3. Drive to Saur Mountain (515 km, 6-8 hr) We drive around the lake Zaisan and come to small city Zaisan.  Visit local museum. We need drive into Sauyr Mountain 18 km more by off road road and come to the eco resort « Saur Tau». This camp is located in a picturesque gorge of the Mountain Saur. You can fully enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the ancient Saur Mountain here. You can take advantage of the life-giving power of elk antlers and medicinal plants of the region, go on horseback riding and hiking or try your luck for photo-shooting of wild animals, such like elk, wild boar, mountain sheep and goat, and many others. Day 4. To Lake Markakol (250 km, 6-7 hr) Today we continue our driving to north, and come closer to the Kazakhstan-Chinese border. On the way we stop next to Kiyn Kirish red cliff, where you can see the beautiful rock formation. Red and yellow clay hills dominate the areas bordering the Bay of Shakelmes and in the territory of Kiyn-Kerish (Flaming Rocks). Melting water has eroded the rock into bizarre-looking and wonderfully carved formations. With a bit of imagination, it’s possible to imagine an entire city spread over 300 hectares: towers, castles and yurts, all glowing in various hues. Extreme heat and a laftk of water characterize this rough, fantasy landscape. Afternoon drive and reach the Lake Markakol. Overnight in wooden house. (BLD)
Day 5. To Rakhmanov Hot Spring in Katon-Karagai National Park (145 km) Today we drive to north by the road built in 1914-1916 by Austrian and Czech World War I prisoners of war to strengthen the border with China. This 70 km long road passes through amazingly beautiful places at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. You’ll see picturesque Lake Markakol, worth the trip alone. Moreover, one of the passes offers a breathtaking view on the legendary Belukha Mountain, the highest peak of the Altai Mountains (4509 m ). After lunch, we drive 69 km, and visit place for elk horns cutting off. And, if we are in luck, we see process of horns cutting off, drying and further processing of horns.  On the way see panorama of Belukha peak. Come to the Rakhmanov hot spring sanatorium. Main medicinal factor in the sanatorium is radon springs. Unique medical baths located straight on the thermal radon springs (t+34 +42°C) treat various diseases of support-motor apparatus: arthritis, poly-arthritis, various diseases of bones, muscles, sinews, spinal diseases, rheumatism, radiculitis, diseases of peripheral and central nervous system, various skin diseases. Radon water has sedative effect on central nervous system, improves sleep and soothes pain. Thanks to the general impact of radon water the cardiovascular system operates normally. Day 6. Explore the Archaeological Sites of Berel Valley and come to Oskemen  (420 km, 6-7 hr) Today we start our driving to Oskemen and explore Berel archaeological digs. Our road goes around the water basin-Buhtarma, where Russian big old boat will take us with our cars to bring other side of water basin. It is grade opportunity to enjoy with beautiful views. The water basin formed by Bukhtarma dam for hydroelectric power station on river Irtysh. Its filling has begun in 1960 and in 1966 carries out long-term regulation of a drain. The area – 5500 sq.km, the greatest width is 35 kms and average depth is 9,6 m. After 30 min traveling with big boat, we drive few more hours and reach Oskemen. Overnight in 4/5* hotel. (BLD)
Day 7. Fly to Nursultan city Transfer to Oskemen airport and take a flight back to Nursultan. Transfer to 4/5* hotel. (BLD)
Day 8. Depart Nursultan city Early breakfast and transfer to Nursultan airport.

Classic Eagle Hunting & Explore Alatau Mountains

Day 1 Arrive at Almaty airport
Meeting in the airport, transfer to the hotel, resting. A sightseeing tour round Almaty, visit the Republic Square with the monument of Independence, Central Historical Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Panfilov park with its wooden Cathedral and Museum of national musical instruments. Day 2 Drive to Eagle Hunter’s family
Arrival in Almaty. Meet by our team. Load a luggage and drive 3-4hrs towards Eagle Hunter’s family. Meet Kazakh Eagle hunter and his bird. Learn some hunting and horse riding skills. Overnight in traditional Kazakh wooden house. (BLD)
Day 3-6 Kazakh Eagle Hunting
Today we drive to the famous Charyn canyon. Camping at a glade, lunch. Evening hiking by the part of a canyon called “Valley of Castles” that is known for its unusual rock formations. The width of it ranges from 20 to 80 meters and the length is 2 kilometers. The Canyon has been described as the Grand Canyon’s little brother. This is not to detract from the sheer splendor of the canyon itself. The vista of dramatic erosion made by the river Charyn below and the elements has created a dramatic and impressive landscape. Day 7 Explore Charyn Canyon, Lakes Kolsai and Kaindy
Say goodbye and drive is to the Charyn Canyon, which is located in the Charyn National Park about 215km east of Almaty and approximately a 4-5 hours drive. The Canyon itself is approximately 150 km long, and, in places up to 300 meters deep. One area of particular interest, is an area of 2km called the Valley of Castles, due to the pillars and rock formations forming imposing, almost manmade structures. The story of the Canyon is that it was formed about 3 million years ago as the land around the canyon started to rise. A very large lake existed in the area around the top of the canyon and it started to empty. Over the next million years the canyon was formed by the Charyn River. Approximately 2 million years ago a large earthquake disturbed the flow of the river by blocking it with a land-slip. The visitor part of the canyon then has suffered from the elements forming the rock sculptures. The Charyn River still flows at the bottom of the canyon forming the next great canyon. Afternoon drive to south-west, and come near the high mountain lakes Kaindy and Kolsai that are situated in the beautiful gorges covered by forests of the Tian Shan fir tree. The lake Kaindy was created as the result of an enormous limestone landslide, triggered by the 1911 Kebin earthquake. The track to Lake Kaindy has many scenic views to the Saty Gorge, the Chilik Valley, and the Kaindy Gorge. Dried-out trunks of submerged Picea schrenkianatrees rise above the surface. (BLD)
Day 8 Drive to Almat by Turgen Gorge
Today, we drive by high mountain road and reach Assy-Turgen Observatory at Assy Plateau. The observatory is located on the Assy-Turgen plateau, 2750 meters above sea level. Assy-Turgen is the only observatory in Kazakhstan with ideal astroclimate: high transparency of the atmosphere, no light pollution and very small (average) turbulence. Assy Turgen Observatory 1-meter telescope is used for research of Herbig Ae/Be, symbiotic stars and binary systems with X-ray component. Next our stop is near Turgen waterfall. The sight of the beautiful waterfalls in the famous Turgen gorge leaves an unforgettable impression! There is a fish farm here, where they breed trout. You can catch a fish and have it fried in a local cafe. Afternoon drive to Almaty. Overnight in hotel. (BLD)
Day 9 Depart Almaty

Reindeer herders & Eagle Festival

Day 1 Arrive in UB
Arrive UB airport and meet by our Blue Wolf team. Takes approx 45min to transfer to hotel. 
After a short rest to freshen-up we will do a sight -seeing tour of Ulaanbaatar, focusing on such significant cultural sites as Gandan Buddhist Monastery, the Zanzabar Fine Arts Museum, which holds the finest collection of thangka paintings, carvings and sculptures in Mongolia. The Chojin Lama temple will be visited, the location of which clearly illustrates the great contrast between the old and the new in Mongolia. Lunch will be enjoyed in a nearby Mongolian restaurant with traditional cuisine. In the afternoon, the Winter Palace of the last Bogd Khan will be visited which houses some very interesting cultural and religious artifacts. To get a panoramic overview of the city, we may visit the Great Buddha statue and memorial at Zaisan. Overnight at a 5* hotel.
Day 2-3 Fly to Khuvsgul & Drive ton Renchinkhumbe  
Fly to Murun and meet by our team. Driving about 300 km /7-8 hrs/ reach village Renchinkhumbe. The road goes by Darhad Hotgor valley. Darhadyn Hotgor is a wide high valley west of Hövsgöl nuur. The valley is about 150 kilometers long and 40 kilometers wide, the valley’s altitude is about 1600 meters, and the surrounding peaks are up to 3100 meters high. Darhadyn Hotgor is named after the Darhad Mongols, who make up most of the valley’s population. On second day, we will meet horse rangers and first introduction to the horses and riding training. Day 4 To Reindeers
Early morning we start horse ride toward high mountains. Only next day evening, we reach the rein-deer people, who live in tepees. Overnight in tent. (BLD)
Day 5 Stay with Reindeer herders
Learn their everyday life and their traditions as like milking reindeers, riding, processing skins. Also you enjoy the beautiful nature. Reindeer people /Tsaatan/ are small ethnic group of Mongolia /about 600/. They follow shamanism and very believe in mysterious shamanist deeds and traditions. (BLD)
Day 6-7 Ride back & Drive to Lake Khuvsgul
Known as “The Dark Blue Pearl”, Lake Khovsgol is Mongolia’s largest and deepest lake. Located in the northernmost province, it is the largest tributary stream of Lake Baikal in Russia. Lake Khuvsgul is 136 km long, 36 km wide, and 262 meters deep and is located at an altitude of 1645 m above sea level and is frozen from January until April or May. It’s the second largest fresh water lake in Central Asia. It’s inhabited by nine species of fish including the Siberian grayling and lenok. Fishing and sport fishing are becoming popular in the lake area. Taiga Fauna and Flora, Tsaatan, practicing reindeer breeding are the main attractions for tourist. Different ethnic groups live in the area: Khalh, Darhadt, and Buryat. Tsaatans are reindeer herders. Lake Khovsgol is on the important migration route for birds from Siberia, thus facilitating marvelous opportunities for birdwatching. In the evening, come to Murun city. Overnights in local hotel. Day 8-10 Drive to Ulgii
Driving from Hangai Forest Area to Altai Mountains, you can see many different wild areas, where mountains and steppe areas are combined. Meeting nomadic families, you can see how they are used to live on these remote wild places. Last day, come to Olgii, where you can stay in gercamp or hotel with hot shower. (BLD)
Day 11 Golden Eagle experience
The Mongolian Kazakhs use for hunting female eagles as far they are bigger mail ones and more aggressive. These eagles are trained to hunt fox, wolves, rabbit and wild cat. Going side by side with eagle hunter to hunt mostly fox we learn and enjoy this unique customs of the Mongolian Kazakhs. We have the chance to visit some Kazakh families and feel the grade hospitality. Every evening we stay with the Kazakh Dombro Player (traditional musical instrument with two strings). Day 12-13 Eagle Festival
Drive to the festival place and meet the Kazakh Eagle hunters. The rodeo of eagle hunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close. There are approx. 400 eagle hunters in Bayan-Olgii aimag. The eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. During the festival we also see some Kazakh Traditional Horse Games like “BushKushi” (Try to take out from each other the goat skin on horseback), “Kiss woman on horseback”, “Pick up coins from the land on horseback” and others. Day 14 Drive to Altai Tavan Bogd Nat. Park
We will drive further west. Bayan-Ulgii is rich in archaeological remains, as a reminder of the Bronze Ages and the time of the Huns and Turkic invasions. At Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where numerous Tuvan nomads live, in Altai Tavanbogd National Park, we will pitch our camp. Shiveet Hairhan is holy for them, so there are about 400 Ibexes there. Sometimes seen, sometimes not seen. Here we will be able to view the biggest petroglyphs from the second period of the Huns (200 B.C.). The Huns were the reason for the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi to build and finish the Great Wall of China at this time. Overnight in tent/ger. (BLD)
Day 15 Potanin Glacier & Snow Peaks
We will do day hike in the area. In the mountains here, there are some 20 glaciers and this is one of the few locations in the world where camels are used as pack animals in glacier areas. Should weather conditions be difficult we will not be able to see the glaciers. Tavanbogd means “the Holy Five” referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Quite a considerable height at this latitude. Day 16 Drive to Twin Lakes
Today’s driving to north comes out to the steppe valleys of the lake area. We pitch camp on the shores of Hoton Lake, where you will find numerous petroglyphs. The area is below the snow-capped Ikh Turgen Uul. We are now only 15km from the China border. These are the summer pastures of numerous Kazakh herdsmen. Their yurts are a bonanza of handicraft. They are a very friendly and hospitable people. A fishing rod comes in handy here. The largest subspecies of Mongolian Grayling (Thymallus arcticus) is easily fished here. The numerous Great Cormorants in the vicinity are a good indicator that there are plentiful fish in the lakes. Overnight in tent or with family. (BLD)
Day 17 Drive back to Ulgii
Drive to east via Ulaanhuis over desert mountain landscapes, with the snow-capped Sogoog Mountain as a powerful backdrop and the Altai Mountain range ahead of us. After driving 4-5 hrs, come to Olgii. Overnight in gercamp/local hotel. (BLD)
Day 18 Fly back to UB
Early breakfast and transfer to UB airport. Transfer to 4* hotel. Day 19 Depart UB

Day 2 Drive to Baga Gazryn Chuluu NP Drive to South about 200 km and reach Middle Gobi and BAGA GAZRYN CHULUU. Visit the stones Valley walking and runes of the Sacred Monastery. The monastery is built on the small island in the middle of Lake Burd Nuur by local Mongolians in 16th century. Overnight there in gers tourist camp. (BLD)
Day 3 Explore Yolyn Am  The Valley in the Zuun Saikhan Mountain, located 45 km from Dalanzadgad, in the centre of South Gobi aimag, is called Yolyn Am. The narrow Valley between high rock walls has breathtaking dramatic scenery, and no doubt is one of the beautiful places in the country. In rainy summers hundreds of small waterfalls appear in the rocky walls. Trekking, camel and horse riding tours are available to the valley. After lunch, we keep driving to west and reach Khongorin Dunes, the biggests sand dunes in all Asia. Overnight in gercamp. (BLD)
Day 4 Khongoryn Els (Gobi Desert) After breakfast, we start driving to west and reach Hongoryn Dunes, the biggest sand dunes in all Asia. The 350-meter high sand dunes in Sevrei soum, South aimag, are called Hongoryn Els. These dunes are 20 km wide and 100 km long. The Hongoryn River flows along the sand dunes and gives birth to oases. Visit the dunes with camel riding. Visit a local camel breeding family and learn about their breeding programs. We will arrive at Gobi Erdene camp to have lunch & take a break for 1-2 hours, then we will drive 15 km to the dunes. We will do some hiking up the dunes up to 800 meters (Optional) & take great photos just before the sunset. Evening, drive back to the camp and have dinner. Day 5 Drive to Kharkhorin Today is a long drive north, through big open steppe area. We will move from the desert steppes to Khangai Mountain. The nomads live from livestock herding. However, by international standards, it is not densely populated. Near the sands they keep Bactrian Camels. Overnight in gercamp. (BLD)
Day 6 Explore Kharkhorin After driving few hrs /about 120kms/, we reach KharKhorum. Mongolia’s ancient capital, Kharakhorum, Chinggis Khaan’s fabled city, was founded in 1220 in the Orkhon valley, at the crossroads of the Silk Road. It was from there that the Mongol Empire governed, until Khubilai Khaan moved it to Beijing. The symbolic ruins of Kharakhorum (Harhorin), monumental walls (400 m of length) with 108 stupas, surround the first Buddhist monastery in Mongolia Erdene Zuu Monastery, built in 1586. In 1792, it housed 62 temples and 10,000 lamas; since 1990, it has become an active monastery again. Turtles carved from the stone marked the boundaries of the complex. Nearby, Turkish monuments and rock inscriptions erected in 8-9th centuries in memory of outstanding fighters for independence. Quite a surprise for the scentists was the discovery of a burial of a Mongolian woman which dates to approximately the 14-th century where also two Egiptian masks, a wooden comb and a bronze mirror in a silk case were found. Day 7 Drive to Khorgi (Terkhiin Nuur Nat. Park) Driving westwards, you will stop next to ‘Taikhar chuluu’, a huge rock which related to the local mythology. The next stop of the day will be the ‘Chuluut canyon’ observation point, and the holy “100 branches tree” which stands next to it for hundreds of years. Khorgo Volcano is a dead volcano covered with basalt lying in the east of the Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan (National Park) in Arhangai aimag. Interesting bubbles of solidified lave named “Basalt ger’. Possible a visit to yak’s herders. Arhangai aimag, the north-east slope of the Hangai chain, is called “the Switzerland of Mongolia” for its forests, rivers and wooded hills. Overnight in gercamp. Day 8 Drive to Murun & Tsagaan Nuur village First day, our route turns to west and drive to the western side of the Hangai Mountains. Taiga is a boreal coniferous forest, comprised primarily of Siberian Larch (Larix sibirica) and Siberian Pine (Pinus sibirica). Coming to town Murun, get gasoline. 110kms drive to north and reach Hatgal village and overnight in gercamp. (BLD)
Day 9 Drive to Khustai Nat. Park Driving by mostly open remote and mountain areas, you have a chance to visit some nomadic Mongolian families and feel their grade hospitality. Overnight in tent.In the evening of second day we reach Hustai Nat. Park. Overnight in gercamp. (BLD)
Day 10 Explore Khustai Nat. Park & drive to Ulaanbaatar Hustai National Park is the site of a unique re-introduction scheme of Przewalskii’s horse (Equus przewalskii), by Mongolian’s called Takhi. It became extinct in the wild and have since 1992 been successfully re-introduced to Hustai from zoos around the world. It has been an international effort monitored to The Foundation for the Przewalskii Horse of the Netherlands and MACNE (Mongolian Association for Conservation of Nature and the Environment). The national park is rolling Steppe Mountains with rather large patches of birch and aspen forests. There are also visible remains of neolithic graves. In addition Red Deer (Cervus elaphus) and Wolf (Canis lupus) have increased quite a bit during the last few years, as well as Mongolian gazelle. Species that are in Hustai but usually not seen are Lynx, Argali Sheep and Roe Deer. After breakfast, we will make a trek through the varied habitats of Hustai National Park. Starting out from the ger camp we will hike the ridges with views over the distant Moltsog Sands as well as the partly forested Hustai Mountains. We will trek up a gully and get to incredible look out points, while having a reasonable chance to see Red Deer, Black Vultures and other numerous raptor’s such as eagles and falcons. After lunch drive to UB /100kms/. Transfer to 4* hotel. (BL)
Day 11 Explore Terelj Nat. Park Gorkhi-Terelj National Park is located near Ulaanbaatar, about 60 km. The Park is a great getaway destination for short and long time visitors. If time allows, spend a night at one of the Mongolian Ger camps in Terelj Park to get the taste of Mongolian culture. Among local attractions are famous “Turtle” Rock, man-made park with dinosaur statues, “Arraybal” buddhist temple, “Khagiin Khar” Glacier Lake, and relaxing views of Tuul River valley.We can offer a full range of sightseeing tours with “Chinggis Khaan Statue Complex” and “XIII Century National Camp”. Chinggis khan statue complexis located 54 km from Ulaanbaatar among beautiful natural scenery on the bank of river Tuul, in the place called “Tsonjin Boldog”, memorial place connected with historic events. Altai, Hangai and Gobi Drive

Day 1 Arrive in UB
Arrive UB airport and meet by our Blue Wolf team. Takes approx 45min to transfer to hotel. After a short rest to freshen-up we will do a sight -seeing tour of Ulaanbaatar, focusing on such significant cultural sites as Gandan Buddhist Monastery, the Zanzabar Fine Arts Museum, which holds the finest collection of thangka paintings, carvings and sculptures in Mongolia. The Chojin Lama temple will be visited, the location of which clearly illustrates the great contrast between the old and the new in Mongolia. Lunch will be enjoyed in a nearby Mongolian restaurant with traditional cuisine. In the afternoon, the Winter Palace of the last Bogd Khan will be visited which houses some very interesting cultural and religious artifacts. To get a panoramic overview of the city, we may visit the Great Buddha statue and memorial at Zaisan. In the evening at dinner we will enjoy a typical folkloric Mongol performance (songs and dances). Overnight at a 3*/4*/5* hotel. 
Day 2 Fly to (Ulgii) West
Transfer to UB airport and fly 3 hrs to Olgii. (one hour time difference). Met by Kazakh crew and transfer to Blue Wolf Restaurant. Visit the local museum of Olgii town with comprehensive information of flora and fauna of Bayan-Olgii aimag as well as it colorful traditional costumes. Dinner with Kazakh Concert. Day 3  Altai Tavan Bogd Nat.Park
Drive the western route along Tsaagan Gol (White River). After (5-6 hrs drive if not stopping) we will arrive at Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, in Altai Tavanbogd National Park, where numerous Tuvan nomads live. Shiveet Hairhan is holy for them, so there is no hunting, and usually possible to see a lot of Siberian Ibex in the early morning. Pitch camp. (B,L,D)
Day 4-5 Altai Tavan Bogd
With the support of camels, we will trek for 16 km to the base camp area at the edge of the 20 km long Potanin glacier, that runs down from the highest mountains in Mongolia. We will pitch our camp right here. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five” referring to the peaks of Huiten (4374 m and the highest), Naran, Ölgii, Burget and Nairamdal. It is a stunning setting with the awe inspiring massif of high snow capped peaks. Next day, we will remain in the same camp and make a day hike up the non-technical heights of Malchin Uul, where we are likely to trek up through snow. There is also a smaller hill nearby allowing for excellent and stunning views of the mountains, mainly into Russian Altai, but in the distance also China. Overnights in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 6 Altai Tavan Bogd
Trek back on the other side of the Tsaagan River (White River) to Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where the Tuva people live. Here we will now be able to view the biggest petrolgyphs from the period of the Huns (approx 200 B.C.). The Huns were the reason for the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi to build the Great Wall of China. Overnight in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 7 To Big Lakes
Driving towards Big Lakes, we will stay on Snake Valley. There are many Turkic stones with face. 
Afternoon, drive nearby western side of Hurgan Nuur and Hoton Nuur, where many Nomadic Kazakh families spend summer. Along the lakes, we see the beautiful waterfall, rock printings and some ancient Turkic stones with face. On the right side we see the snow capped mountains with forest,which make the wall between China and Mongolia. Overnight in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 8 To Dayan Lake
A half day drive to Dayan Lake, near the frontier with China. Visit Kazakh Nomadic Families and feel their grade hospitality. Overnight with family. (B,L,D)
Day 9-10 To Eagle hunter’s family
Drive back to Olgii 3-4 hrs. After lunch in Blue Wolf restaurant, continue our road to south. On the way you will go around Lake Doroo-one of most beautiful and crystal clear lakes of Mongolian Altai. Specially good for photos. After one hour drive, we come to Onei’s family-Kazakh Eagle hunter. Overnight with Eagle hunter and his magnificent bird of pray. 
Next day stay with Eagle hunter and learn some eagle hunting history and skills. Soft hiking. Overnights in tent near family. (B,L,D)
Day 11 Meet Throat Singers(260km)
Today driving towards Hovd you cross the north-west side of Tsamba-Garav Uul (one of the highest snow capped mountains in Mongolia 4208m). Have a lunch in Hovd town. After lunch,driving to will see the Khar Us Nuur National Park, where WWF Mongolia is very active. The largest of the lakes is Khar Us Nuur (Black Water Lake). We will try local hospitality at Jargalant Hairhan Mountain and hike into Rashantiin Am (Spring Valley), a sacred valley. Here is a sacred spring which is being said to have medicinal properties, including good for eye diseases Jargalant Hairhan (Sacred Happiness) is a snow-capped mountain, which is the back drop of Khar Us Lake. Rashantiin Am is an eerie valley with bolder and poplars. The great lakes basin has the largest reed beds in all of Central Asia, with many bird species as well as Saiga Antelope, the rare Wild Boar (in the reeds!), Snow Leopards, Gazelle, Wolves etc.We will move from the desert steppes to Altai Mountians. We will reach Chandman soum , where they claim throat singing originates. and camp next to some nomads. The nomads live from livestock herding. Overnight in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 12-14 To Huvsugul Lake (850 km)
HANGAI (Northern Mongolia)
Driving from Altai Mountains to Hangai Area, you can see many different wild areas, where mountains and steppe areas are combined. Meeting nomadic families , you can see how they are used to live on these remote wild places. Last day, come to Moron, where you can stay in gercamp or hotel with hot shower. (B,L,D)
Day 15-16 Drive to Ulaan Uul viilage
After driving about 160 km /5-6hrs/ reach village UlaanUul. Visit local family. Meet horse rangers and first introduction to the horses and riding training. Next day you will ride horses to meet reindeer people. Overnights in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 17-18 Reindeer and Tsaatan Life
One full day stay with Reindeer family to learn their life styles.Life is tough,but natural and authentic. Staying with these people, you will be out of civilization. Overnight with family. Next day ride back to meet our vehicle. Overnight with horse ranger. Last day drive back to Moron. Overnights in gercamp. (B,L,D) 
Day 18-19 To Terkhiin Tsagaan Lake and Khorgo Volcano

Full day driving by open steppe areas and we reach Khongoryn Dunes, the biggest sand dunes in all Asia. 
The 800-meter high sand dunes in Sevrei soum, South aimag, are called Khonguryn Els. These dunes are 20 km wide and 180 km long. The Khonguryn River flows along the stand dunes and gives birth to oases.Visit the dunes with camel riding. Visit a local camel breeding family and learn about their breeding programs. Day 22 To Yolyn Am
Driving to east about 150 km (4 hrs), we come to The Valley in the Zuun Saikhan mountain located 45 km from Dalanzadgad, in the center of South Gobi aimag, is called Yolyn Am. The narrow Valley between high rock walls has breathtaking dramatic scenery, and no doubt is one of the beautiful places in the country. In rainy summers hundreds of small waterfalls appear in the rocky walls. Freaking camel and horse riding tours are available to the valley. Overnight at gercamp. (B,L,D)
Day 23 To Baga Gazryn Chuluu
Drive to north-west about 200 km and reach Middle Gobi and BAGAGAZRYN CHULUU. Visit the stones Valley walking and runes of the Sacred Monastery. By your arrival in UB meet by our guide and transfer to hotel. After lunch, we will do city site seeing tour. Explore, Gandan Monastery, Buddhist center in Ulaanbaatar. See Zanabazar Museum Chojin Lama temple. Lunch time in a typical Mongolian Restaurant The winter Palace Buda Big Statue on the Hill Central market (black) (one or two hours if we have time), at the restaurant, during Dinner time (optional). Day 3 To TsambaGarav Nat.Park
To TsambaGarav Nat.ParkDrive to BW-Tsamba Camp by Russian 4wd jeep or 4wd minivan. This camp is located just on the north-west side of Tsamba-Garav Uul (one of the highest snow capped mountains in Mongolia 4208 m). On the way,we will see some rock printings and also ancient deer stone in Olon Nuur valley. (BLD) 
Day 4 To Togrog lake
After driving by remote high mounians with snow caps, we will come Togrog Lake. This valley had the best view of Eclipse-2008 (August,1st), also summer spending place of Kazakh Nomadic people. Good fly fishing in rivers and lake. In the evening,we visit the local Kazakh herder families and feel the grade hospitality. Overnight in gers. (BLD) 
Day 5 Day hike to Gants Mod valley or horse ride
Gants Mod valley is rich with rock printings and deer stones.We will have a picnic lunch, and hike back to Togrog Lake. Overnight in gers. (BLD) 
Day 6 To Dayan lake
Driving by remote wild country,you meet many petro-glyphs and ancient Turkish stones with face. Today we spend night in gers, located between Dayan and Black lakes. These lakes have crystal clear water and many water birds. Good fishing and bird watching. Overnight in ger/tent. (BLD) 
Day 7 To Hoton lake
Today we drive to north about 4-5 hrs and reach eastern shore of lake Hoton. On the way,we stop for picnic lunch in Baga Turgen Valley. This valley has beautiful waterfall and surrounded by larch forest.Near waterfall,you can see some rock printings. Overnight in ger/tent. (BLD) 
Day 8 To Snake valley
After breakfast,walk towards hill,which is just on the east from camp side, and look for many graves and rock printings. Day 9 Sites of Shiveet Khairkhan
Today after driving about 90 km, we reach our road end. This is home place of Tuvan people, who don’t have any religion. On the way we will stop near Mountain Shiveet Hairhan (Holy Mountain). Tuvan people respect this mountain like their god, so no hunting. There are about 400 ibexs. On the southeast side of this mountain, you will see the biggest rock printing (petro-glyphs) from the period of the Huns (approx 200 B.C.). The Huns were the reason for the Chinese emperor Qin Shi Huangdi to build the Great Wall of China. Overnight in tent. (BLD)
Day 10-12 Hiking along Potanin Glacier and back
First day, trek for 11 km toward the base camp of the snow-capped Tavanbogd massif. Pitch camp next to the 20 km long Potanin glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Remain there for two nights. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five”, referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Quite a considerable height at this altitude. It is a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow-capped peaks. Second day, for a full day we will make day hikes to the Malchin Uul. These are non-technical climbs. Third day, trek back to Tsaagan River (White River). The pick-up vehicle (s) will arrive this camp-side tonight. Overnights in tent. (BLD) 
Day 13 To Khar Yamaat sites
Driving about 100 km,we reach the Khar Yamaat Valley. There are you will see the Turkic Archaeological sites, which are belonged to 6-8 centuries of B.C. After picnic lunch drive to Olgii. Overnight in Blue Wolf gercamp. (BLD)
Day 14  Fly to UB

Day 1 Arrive at Almaty airport
eeting in the airport, transfer to the hotel, resting. A sightseeing tour round Almaty, visit the Republic Square with the monument of Independence, Central Historical Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Panfilov park with its wooden Cathedral and Museum of national musical instruments. Day 2 To Issyk lake and Turgen watrefall
After early breakfast, we load our luggages on 4×4 car and start driving from Almaty in the direction of Turgen mountain gorge (North Tian Shan), by famous Kuldja Road (part of the Silk Way from China). Our first stop is Issyk town. Visit of a nice new museum of Saki culture. The museum is built just in the center of the King’s valley with its giant burials of ancient rulers and warriors of Saki tribes (IX – IIIc BC ). One of the burial is excavated and is open for the visitors so that everyone could see how people like a famous Golden Man (symbol of Kazakhstan) were living and dying. Excursion by the museum and a valley takes 45 minutes. Drive up to Issyk Lake (1756m a.s.l) located in the upper reaches of huge and pictorial Issyk gorge, short hiking around. Lunch at a lakeside. After lunch, we drive to Turgen ravine (another ravine of the Northen Tian Shan ridge), stop for a short hiking to the Lower Turgen waterfall. Drive from the waterfall to Batan place, where our comfortable Turgen safari-campsite is located. Accommodation and at a campsite. Dinner and overnight. (B,L,D)
Day 3 To Charyn Canyon
Today we drive to the famous Charyn canyon. Camping at a glade, lunch. Evening hiking by the part of a canyon called “Valley of Castles” that is known for its unusual rock formations. The width of it ranges from 20 to 80 meters and the length is 2 kilometers. The Canyon has been described as the Grand Canyon’s little brother. This is not to detract from the sheer splendor of the canyon itself. The vista of dramatic erosion made by the river Charyn below and the elements has created a dramatic and impressive landscape. Day 4 To Altyn Emel Nat.Park
Drive 160kms (2-3hrs) and reach Altyn Emel Nat.Park. Before lunch, we will expore the beautifull mountians Katutau (Hard) and Aktau (White). 
Katutau Mountains (Harsh Mountains) are very ancient ruined mountains with preserved volcanic outputs. The breed is very fragile and breaks down under the physical impact. Water, time and wind carved intricate shapes in the rock. Sedimentary rock of the bottom of the ancient Tethys Ocean is preserved there. From the effects of environmental factors it took the form of intricate figures and landscapes. 
Aktau Mountains (White Mountains) are world-renowned paleontological field. In the layers of Paleogene lacustrine deposits well-preserved remains of ancient animals whose age is estimated at 25-30 million years have been found. Among the finds there are the remains the giant rhinos, crocodiles, turtles. Huge conical mountains remind the Egyptian pyramids and are a magical scene of the variety of shapes and colors. After picnic lunch in nature, we drive more to west and expore the Singing Dunes. Singing Dune, reaching a height of 120 meters and a length of about 3 km, located in one of the corners of the Altyn-Emel National Park, a few kilometers from the Ili river between the mountains of Big and Small Kalkan. This sandy hill consists of very fine pure sand, which starts to “sing” in windy weather and its sound reminds the organ music. Before a sandy storm the dune sounds like a drum. From the top of the Dune you can observe the grand panorama of the surroundings. In the south – thin strip of the Ili River is visible as well as purple mountains of Sogety and Boguty, looking out from the white peaks of the Ketmen ridge. On the west the horizon is obstructed by the steep slope of the Big Kalkan, and the Small Kalkan – from the east. In the north – violet-blue ridge of Djungarian Alatau mountains, Chulak mountain, Matai and Altyn-Emel are visible. If the weather is dry and windy, the sand-dune will “sing” you its song, which could be heard as far as several kilometers… After few hours explore, we continue our driving by paved road (200kms-3hrs) between remote mountians to north-east and reach small Kazakh village of apple trees, located just on the south side of Djungar Altai Mountian. For overnight we will stay with Kazakh family and feel their grade hospitality. Day 5-6 Explore Djungar Alatau (Djungar-Altai Mountians)
After breakfast, we walk by local family’s garden, where you can see planted apples and many other berries. After lunch, we drive along river Kora about 60kms and reach our campside. On the way, we make 2-3 stops (10-15 minutes) near the unique places of Jungar Alatau. Soft hiking. Overnight in tent. 
Mountains of Jungar Alatau have a length of 400 km. One of the most picturesque gorges of Zhetisu – Korinski Gorge lies in these mountains and stretches for 90 km. Kora River is feeding from age-old glaciers.Spruce and fir alternates with a lacy greenery of birch trees, and meadows are covered with colorful flower carpet. If you are lucky, can see a brown bear, deer, mountain goat, as well as the wolf, fox and the hare.Next day, we do a day hike towards Burhan Bulak Gorge, visit the top tier of the waterfall. 
Burhan Bulak waterfall, the highest in Central Asia, situated at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level. The height of its three tiers is 112 meters. In clear streams on the background of reddish rocks covered with emerald moss, the sun is playing with its rays. Dozens of colorful rainbows complement the fascinating picture painted by the great artist – Nature.You are here on time to see the true nature of the Burhan-Bulak Waterfall. Day 7 To Almaty
After breakfast, we drive back to Almaty through Taldykorgan (5-6hrs). Transfer to hotel (3*-4*) in Almaty. Arrive UB airport and meet by our Blue Wolf team. Takes approx 45min to transfer to hotel. After a short rest to freshen-up we will do a sight -seeing tour of Ulaanbaatar, focusing on such significant cultural sites as Gandan Buddhist Monastery, the Zanzabar Fine Arts Museum, which holds the finest collection of thangka paintings, carvings and sculptures in Mongolia. The Chojin Lama temple will be visited, the location of which clearly illustrates the great contrast between the old and the new in Mongolia. Lunch will be enjoyed in a nearby Mongolian restaurant with traditional cuisine. In the afternoon, the Winter Palace of the last Bogd Khan will be visited which houses some very interesting cultural and religious artifacts. Altai Nomad’s Festival-2019
During the festival we see some Kazakh Traditional Horse Games like “Bush Kushi” (Try to take out from each other the goat skin on horseback),”Kiss woman on horseback”, “Pick up coins from the land on horseback” and others. You will be with many local nomads, who dressed on their ancient traditional clothing. In the evening we enjoy to have the Kazakh Concert with some traditional songs and music. Altai Tavanbogd Nat. Park
Embark on a 1-day drive to Altai Tavan Bogd National Park. At the Sacred Mountain “Shiveet Hairhan”, we will see the largest rock painting site from the period of the Huns (around 200 B.C.). Some ancient Turkic stones can also be seen along the way. Admire the views of the snowcapped and forested mountains marking the natural wall between China and Mongolia. Next day, we will start our 6-hour trek to the top of Malchin peak at 4025m. Today’s trek to summit and back to camp is about 10 to 12 hours in total, or you may trek as high as you can before returning to camp. Below you will see the Potanin glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five”, referring to the peaks of Huiten (4374m and the highest), Naran, Ulgii, Burget and Nairamdal. Walk down few hours and reach the road end. After driving 4-5 hrs, we reach Bashakhan’s family-Kazakh Eagle hunter. Visit his family and feel their grade hospitality. Day 5-6 Stay with Reindeer Herders
Learn their everyday life and their traditions as like milking reindeers, riding, processing skins. Also you enjoy the beautiful nature. Day 7-9 Ride back to road end and Drive to Murun

Known as “The Dark Blue Pearl”, Lake Khovsgol is Mongolia’s largest and deepest lake. Located in the northernmost province, it is the largest tributary stream of Lake Baikal in Russia. Lake Khuvsgul is 136 km long, 36 km wide, and 262 meters deep and is located at an altitude of 1645 m above sea level and is frozen from January until April or May. It’s the second largest fresh water lake in Central Asia. It’s inhabited by nine species of fish including the Siberian grayling and lenok. Fishing and sport fishing are becoming popular in the lake area. Taiga Fauna and Flora, Tsaatan, practicing reindeer breeding are the main attractions for tourist. Different ethnic groups live in the area: Khalh, Darhadt, and Buryat. Tsaatans are raindeer herders. Lake Khovsgol is on the important migration route for birds from Siberia, thus facilitating marvelous opportunities for birdwatching. In the evening, come to Murun city. Classic Eagle Hunting on Altai Mountains, 8 days

Day 2. Flight to Olgii/Hovd and Drive to Khukh Serkhiyn Nuruu (Blue Goat) National Park
After early breakfast, transfer to UB airport. Arrive Hovd airport to be met by the Blue Wolf team. We will then drive 160kms (4-5hrs) to the south and come to a traditional Kazakh Eagle hunter’s summer home. In an impressive valley on the northwestern side of the great Khukh Serkh Mountain, this is a mountain range renowned for its Snow Leopards, with abundant populations of Argali and Ibex. Our visit will be benefiting from an ongoing Snow Leopard research project that is being undertaken here, giving us considerable insight into the movements and habits of these elusive cats. We will meet Erbol and his magnificent Golden Eagle, and learn from a true master about the traditions and skills of hunting with Eagles in the Altai. Overnight in nomadic style ger. (BLD)
Day 3-6. Khukh Serkhiyn Nuruu Nat. Park We will spend our days hiking in the wild and remote fastnesses of the Khukh Serkhiyn range. We will take our time to watch carefully for all aspects of wildlife here: Argalis, Ibexes and Red Deer, always entertaining the hope for a possible and rare Snow Leopard sighting. We will enjoy all that these mountains have to show, from the many raptors such as Golden Eagle, Steppe Eagle, the awe-inspiring bone-eating Lammergeier (Bearded Vulture), the great Black Vulture and the swift Saker Falcon (the Altai race of which is considered by many ornithologists to be a separate species). We will give ourselves the opportunity to observe these mountains in all their intricate grandeur, and appreciate their great silences, in the mountain heart of Asia.Staying with local Kazakh Hunter with Golden Eagle, we will continue to learn more about Kazakh Eagle-hunting skills and gain from his unique perspectives about living in his mountain home. Day 3-5  Go to Festival with Eagle hunters on horseback
Riding the Mongolian small but tough horses, you go side by side with eagle hunter to hunt fox, rabbit, wild cat and may be wolf. So you have chance to have part in this unique hunting of Altai Kazakh people. Have picnic lunch on the mountain and enjoy remote mountain country. Day 6-7 Eagle Festival
Meet the Kazakh Eagle hunters. The rodeo of eagle hunting. A fantastic opportunity for photographers and adventurers alike to see these magnificent birds up close. There are approx. 400 eagle hunters in Bayan-Olgii aimag. Eagle hunters from around regions gather to test their finely trained birds in singular contests of speed and agility in these few days. Bayan-Olgii is rich in archaeological remains, as a reminder of the Bronze Ages and the time of the Huns and Turkic invasions. At Shiveet Hairhan Mountain, where numerous Tuvan nomads live, in Altai Tavanbogd National Park, we will pitch our camp. Shiveet Hairhan is sacred for these local people, why no hunting here. Trek for 11 kms toward the base camp of the snow-capped Tavanbogd massif. We will walk about 20km along Potanina glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five”, referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Quite a considerable height at this altitude. It is a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow-capped peaks. In the evening walk down and stay with family or in tent near cars. (BLD)

Day 3. Boat tour in the purest Lake
After breakfast, we will hike in the surrounding forest mountains to have a better look of the The blue pearl. Being with the nature allows us to tune in to the infinite wisdom of our highest self. Then we will take a boat tour to one of the islands in Khuvsgul lake. After returning from boat trip, we will get to the reindeer village, where we can experience the unique culture of Tsaatan people, who live in tepees. Overnight at the same ger camp. (BLD)
Day 4. Flight back to Ulaanbaatar We will drive back to the Murun city for your return flight to Ulaanbaatar. Upon arrival in UB, we will do a city site seeing tour. Starting from Gandan monastery, Sukhbaatar main square, the winter palace of Bogd Jabzan Damba Hutagt VIII, Zaisan Memorial, State department store, Museum of Dinosaurs. Overnight in a 4/5* hotel. Day 5. Flight to The West (Ulgii city) & Drive to Ulaanhus soum After early breakfast take flight to Ulgii airport and meet by our local team. After lunch, drive to Ulaanhus soum to a Kazakh nomadic family. We will set up tents near Kazakh family and experience the authentic nomadic daily of a family. Try milking sheeps, goat, making traditional meals. Watering, feeding the livestocks etc. 
Day 6. Drive to ATB National Park After breakfast,  we will have 4-5 hours of drive to Altai Tavan Bogd Peaks (The Holy Five) via Tsagaan Gol (White river) valley and through Altai Mountains that are Mongolia’s largest and highest mountain range more than 3000-4000 meters high. One famous spot is “Shiveet Hairhan” Sacred Mountain, where we will see the largest rock painting site from the period of the Huns (approx 200 B.C.). Overnights in tent. (BLD)
Day 7. Explore the highest peak of Mongolia
We will make soft hiking to the base camp area at the edge of the 20km long Potanin glacier that runs down from the highest mountains in Mongolia. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five” referring to the peaks of Huiten (4374m and the highest), Naran, Ölgii, Burget and Nairamdal. It is a stunning setting with the awe inspiring massif of high snowcapped peaks. Optional activity to summit the lowest of 5 holy mountains (Malchin), which takes about 7-9 hrs. Evening back to the tents. (BLD) 
Day 8. Drive to Twin Lakes After early breakfast, drive towards Khoton & Khurgan lakes, where many Nomadic Kazakh families spend summer. After the wooden bridge on the water channel between the Lakes, we drive to north along the Khoton Lake about 12kms to reach 3 small Rocky Mountains – Biluut 1, 2 & 3. Here you can see the many rock printings (petro-glyphs). Overnights in tents at the base camp. (BLD)
Day 9. Baga Turgen Water fall After breakfast, drive to Baga Turgen Waterfall (15kms) and stop at the parking stations. Then, we will hike for about 30 mins to reach the beautiful waterfall and lunch will be served in lunch boxes. After lunch, drive to tents near Kazakh families and before sunset take great photos with Eagles, nomadic life style, in the evening we will learn how to cook a Kazakh traditional meal (Bes Barmak or Sirney) with the family.
Day 10. Drive back to Ulgii
Drive to east via Ulaanhuis over desert mountain landscapes, with the snow-capped Sogoog Mountain as a powerful backdrop and the Altai Mountain range ahead of us. After driving 4-5 hrs, come to Ulgii. Overnight in gercamp/local hotel. (BLD)
Day 11. Drive to Tsambagarav National Park
After breakfast, we will drive 4-5hrs & we will pitch camp just on the north side of Tsamba-Garav Uul(one of the highest snowcapped mountains in Mongolia 4208m).The place called “Tavan Belchir”/Five Pastures/. We make soft hiking to see the beautiful snowcapped peaks, rocky valleys and crystal clear spring waters. We visit the nomadic Kazakh and Urianhai (one of western Mongolian ethnic groups) families and feel their grade hospitalities. From North West side of the TsambaGarav Uul we have the chance to hike closer to snow caps. Overnight in nomadic style ger. Set up toilet and shower tents. (BLD)
Day 12. Lake Bayan-Nuur Continue our trek to east. From Tsambagarav Mountains, we drive down to Lake Bayan Nuur, summer pastures of Kazakh nomads. (from over 3000m to 1600m). Coming down to the lakeside you will see the same landscapes with red rocky mountain granites and sandy beaches around the lake itself. There are many water birds here and good for swimming. We drive only 35 km to east and see the biggest Turkic Stone with face. After picnic lunch, drive back to Olgii. Overnight in “Eagle Dreams” hotel. (BLD)
Day 13. Flight back to Ulaanbaatar Early breakfast & transfer to Ulgii airport. Fly back to UB about 3hrs. Transfer to your hotel. You will have a full day to explore the sprawling city of retro architecture, thrilling nightlife, wild traffic and exciting commerce. Golden Eagle & Snow Leopard

 

Day 1 Arrive in UB & Explore UB Arrive UB airport and meet by our Blue Wolf guide. Transfer to hotel. After a short rest to freshen-up we will do a sight -seeing tour of Ulaanbaatar, focusing on such significant cultural sites as Gandan Buddhist Monastery, the Zanzabar Fine Arts Museum, which holds the finest collection of thangka paintings, carvings and sculptures in Mongolia. The Chojin Lama temple will be visited, the location of which clearly illustrates the great contrast between the old and the new in Mongolia. Lunch will be enjoyed in a nearby Mongolian restaurant with traditional cuisine. In the afternoon, the Winter Palace of the last Bogd Khan will be visited which houses some very interesting cultural and religious artifacts. To get a panoramic overview of the city, we may visit the Great Buddha statue and memorial at Zaisan. We will overnight at a 4* hotel.
Day 2 Fly to Hovd & Drive to Chandman village near Jargalant Mountain After early breakfast, transfer to UB airport. Arrive Hovd airport to be met by the Blue Wolf team. Lunch in Hovd town. After lunch, we will drive south across the Great Lakes Basin south to Chandman soum where it is claimed that the renowned Mongolian throat-singing originates. En route we will see the Khar Us Nuur (Black Water Lake) with its vast reed beds (among the largest in Central Asia) and abundant water birds (Cranes, Gulls, Herons, even Pelicans). This National Park, like the Jargalant Hairkhan Mountain is a priority for WWF Mongolia who are very active here. Overnight in tent. (BLD)
Day 3-5 Explore Jargalatn Mountain home of the Snow Leopards Today, we explore Jargalant Hairhan Mountain and hike into Rashantiin Am (Spring Canyon), a sacred valley with a spring renowned for its medicinal properties. Jargalant Hairkhan (Mountain of Sacred Happiness) is a great range that dominates the Great Lakes Basin. Rashantiin Am is an atmospheric valley piled with rocks and ancient poplar trees. WWF Mongolia have done many years of research here on what is known to be an important population of Snow Leopard. We will immerse ourselves in the ecology of this, our first Altai mountain experience, learning about the plants, birds and mammals that make their home here. We will do a number of hikes within this spectacular canyon and surrounding valleys, looking for sign of Snow Leopard and other wildlife. Overnight in tents. (BLD)
Day 6 Drive to Khukh Serkhyin Nuruu (Blue Goat) National Park After breakfast, we cross open plains below Jargalant Hairkhan and will look out for the rare and unusual Mongolian Saiga antelope, a relic of the Pleistocene era. We will then drive 160kms (4-5hrs) to the northwest to come to a traditional Kazakh Eagle hunter’s summer home. Erbol will be our host, in an impressive valley on the northwestern side of the great Khukh Serkh Mountain. This is a mountain range renowned for its Snow Leopards, with abundant populations of Argali and Ibex. Our visit will be benefiting from an ongoing Snow Leopard research project that is being undertaken here, giving us considerable insight into the movements and habits of these elusive cats. We will learn from Erbol and his magnificent Golden Eagle, and learn from a true master about the traditions and skills of hunting with Eagles in the Altai. Overnight in tents. (BLD)
Day 7-9 Khukh Serkhiyn Nuruu (Blue Goat) NP We will spend our days hiking in the wild and remote fastnesses of the Khukh Serkhiyn range. We will take our time to watch carefully for all aspects of wildlife here: Argalis, Ibexes and Red Deer, always entertaining the hope for a possible and rare Snow Leopard sighting. We will enjoy all that these mountains have to show, from the many raptors such as Golden Eagle, Steppe Eagle, the awe-inspiring bone-eating Lammergeyer (Bearded Vulture), the great Black Vulture and the swift sacker Falcon (the Altai race of which is considered by many ornithologists to be a separate and little-known species). We will give ourselves the opportunity to observe these mountains in all their intricate grandeur, and appreciate their great silences, in the mountain heart of Asia. We will vary our hiking routes each day, looking for signs of Lynx, Pallas’s Wildcat, Wolf, Fox and other mammals. Spending time with Erbol the Eagle hunter, we can learn more about traditional Kazakh Eagle hunting skills and gain from his unique perspectives about living in his mountain home. We will overnight in tents hosted by a local family. (BLD)
Day 10 Drive to Olgii city We will take an early morning drive to Olgii, the through a dramatic landscape with Sairiyn Nuruu towering above us and the rugged Altai uplands beyond Lake Tolbo (Nuur). After 4-5hrs we arrive at the Blue Wolf ger-camp in Olgii. After lunch we will spend the afternoon sightseeing around Olgii, visiting its interesting bazaar as well as the recently renovated local mosque, and a well-stocked local museum. Some interesting backstreet handicraft shops will give us the opportunity to look for traditional Kazakh crafts and wares. Overnight at local hotel. (BLD)
Day 11 Flight back to UB After breakfast, transfer to Olgiy airport to catch a flight for Ulaanbaatar. Meet by our guide and transfer to hotel. (B)

Tsambagarav National Park

Day 1 Olgii – Tsambagarav Uul National Park
Arrive by air at Olgii airport. Visit the local museum with its comprehensive collection of flora and fauna of the region, as well as the col- ourful traditional costumes of the area. After lunch we will drive for about 3-4 hrs until we reach the northside of Tsambagarav Uul National Park. The place is called Tavan Belcheer which means “Five Pastures”. Overnight in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 2 Tsambagarav Uul National Park
Tsambagarav Uul (4208m) is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Altai. It is permanently snowcapped and sits on the border of three provinces, Bayan-Olgii, Uvs and Hovd. The National Park was established in year 2000 and has a notable population of snow- leopards. Here you can see man made petroglyphs as well as won- derful waterfalls and crystal clear springs. You may even meet a Kazakh Eagle Hunter! Overnight in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 3-4 Trekking day
We now start our trekking in the Altai Mountains where we will enjoy the amazing views of the snow capped mountains surrounding you. We will load our equipment onto pack-camels and/or pack-horses and trek for 6 km toward our campsite at the base of the snow-capped mountains. We will then spend the following days trekking in this amazing landscape. Overnight in tent. (B,L,D)
Day 5 Drive back to Ulgii
Short days drive to Ulgii. The Kazakh influence is strong in this town and it has bazaar instead of a market and a mosque instead of a Buddhist monastery. There are some interesting back street handicraft shops and a well-stocked local museum. We will spend the night in a Ger Camp. (B,L,D)
Day 6 Fly to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast. Transfer is included to Ulgii airport if you depart by air to Ulaanbaatar. Transfer to your hotel.  Depart from Ulaanbaatar and bring home a lifetime of memories from your Mongolian adventure.

Russian & Mongolian Altai

Day 1 Fly to Russian Altai (GornoAltaisk)
Arrive in Gorno-Altaisk airport early morning and meet by our agent and drive to town. Transfer to local hotel.Explore the city and visit the most interesting – Anokhin’s National Museum, where the mummy of the famous “Altai princess” is kept. The mummy of a woman was discovered by the expedition of Novosibirsk archeologist Natalia Polosmak in 1993 in a kurgan of Scythian era on Ukok plateau in Altai, near the border with Mongolia. This find, which has been dated to more than 2,500 years old, is considered to be one of the most significant archeological discoveries of recent times. Native Altaians consider the mummy to be their ancestor and call her “the Altai princess”. Overnight at 4* hotel. (LD) 
Day 2 Take a shuttle bus towards Belukha Mountian Nat.Park.
Our guide will help you to cath the shuttle bus to reach basecamp, which is situated in a picturesque place on the bank of the Katun River. The road passes through the well-known Chuya Highway among rocky ridges of the Altai Mountains, followed by Kanskaya steppe in Uymonskaya valley. Arriving at Ust-Koksa village to the tourist complex. Lunch. Getting equipment. Safety-awareness briefing. Dinner, acquaintance party. Overnight in tent. (D)
Day 3-4 Hiking along Kucherla river
After breakfast, drive few hrs (64kms) and reach the road end. We start to trek along the river Kucherla (from Altai “Kudzhur-ly”, which means “with saline soils”), formed by the confluence of two mountain streams, Myushtu-Ayry and Koni-Ayry, has an amazing milky-turquoise water. The total length of the river is about 50 km. It cuts a lot of ridges and moraines, beats against the gorges, forming an almost continuous chain of challenging rapids. On the way – visiting a rocky cave near the Kuylyu river, in which niche you can see more than 100 cave paintings. Overnight in tent. (BLD) Next day, hike to Kucherla lake Today we continue our way by Kucherla valley and reach Kucherla lake. The lake is 5220 m long, at 1790 m above sea level elevation, 900 m wide and 55 m deep. The Kucherla Valley has more than 40 tectonic, corrie and moraine lakes. The Kucherla Lake is the largest of them. It is closed by mountain ridges from east and west with loosened rocks up to 3,000 m high, narrow valley of the Kucherla from south and moraine deposits that create a dam from north. The lake is filled with ice, greenish-blue water. Overnight in tent. (BLD).
Day 5-6 Kara Tyurek pass crossing
We have allocated two full days for the crossing of the Belukha mountian range by Kara-Tyurek pass, which is a total of a mere 15km. First day, we will pitch camp before the snow area in timberline. For sure, big game such as Snow Leopards and its prey species, live here, but they are extremely difficult to get to see. Perhaps there is Altai Snowcock. Next day, we will cross the pass at the highest elevation of some 3060m our trek and have the broad views across the Altais. A spectacular panoramic view of Belukha Mountain and endless peaks of Katun ridge. It provides a good opportunity for photo and video shootings. Walk down and arrive to a basecamp near Akkem lake. Overnight in tents. (BLD)
Day 7-8 Rest and Day Hikes around Belukha Mountian
Day one, Hike to Ak-Kemsky glacier and the lake of mountain spirits Visiting the chapel. The path runs along the Ak-kem lake through several picturesque hanging bridges, moves across stone piles in the form of an old moraine and leads to Ak-kem riverhead, coming out of the kingdom of ice and cold. Dinner at the Ak-Kem glacier. It provides an excellent opportunity for photo and video shooting. It is possible to climb up to the lake of Mountain Spirits on the way (optional, and depending on group’s well-being). Day two, to Ak-Oyuk river gorge, valley of seven lakes and Yarley valley The Ak-Oyuk riverhead has the most beautiful lakes, each of which has its own unique color: turquoise, green, milky-blue and blue-black. Descending to the base camp after the hike. Lunch. After lunch – excursion to Yarlu valley (optional), where the entire city is built of stones.
Day 9 Trek down along Ak-kem river
Full day trek through the dramatic steppe valley along the river that drains from the Belukha mountain, creating a series of beautiful lakes. “Ak-Kem”, translated from Turkic language, means “white water”. Indeed, the river has milky-white water. The river starts in Ak-Kem glacier and carries small pieces of lime stone from Belukha slopes. Overnight in tent at “Three birches” campside. (BLD).
Day 10 Trek by Kuzuyak Pass (1513m)
After early breakfast, we continue our trekking along Ak-Kem river. Then turn to left by trial to come up the Kuzuyak pass, where you can find several Shaman trees festooned with ribbons – dalailama. Reach Tungur village and meet our vehicle and drive to Ust-Koksa. Overnight in tent. (BLD).
Day 11 Drive to GornoAltaisk
You have free time before lunch. Possible horse ride or rafting. After lunch, visit Verkhniy Uymon village, which is one of the oldest villages in the Ust-Koksinsky area. The village was founded by Old Believers about 300 years ago. It has two museums: Local History Museum named after N.K. Roerich and Old Belief Museum. At 17:00 p.m drive back to GornoAltaisk by shuttle bus. And after 5-6hrs, reach GornoAltaisk city and meet by our guide. Transfer to 3*hotel.
Day 12-13 Explore cultural Altai
Head out of the city towards GornoAltaisk. We travel up the Katun River to Chemal village to visit the small and spectacularly located nunnery of Patmos monastery, situated on a rocky island in the river and accessible by a hanging bridge. We visit the nunnery and learn how priests here converted the Turkic speaking Altai people to Christianity at the end of the 18 th century. Drive towards the Mongolian highlands, crossing several mountain passes. It is a spectacular road journey on a good tarmac road following the Katun and Choy Rivers, almost to the tree line, up several valleys, until we almost reach the tree line. Overnight in the village of Boochi, where we spend time meeting local Altaian families and discovering local archaeological sites like graves and petroglyps. (BLD) Second day, Today, continue our road along the river Choy to the Kosh Agach Plateau, and the town of Kosh Agach, populated by ethnic Kazakhs. We will cross into Mongolia after the small village of Tashanta. It will certainly take an hour of formalities for both sides. The goods roads will totally disappear as we enter into Mongolia, and Bayan-Olgii province. Overnight in local hotel. (BLD)
Day 14 Drive to Chigertei Lake (2550m)
Drive to Chigertei Lake, which is a summer pasture area for Kazakh nomadic pastoralists. We will meet with our local hosts for the next few days, which are horse and camel wranglers from the area. If the families have arrived, we will pitch camp next to their yurts on the shore line of the lake. (Tents/LD).
Day 15 Trek (2550-3005m, 5-7hrs)
Load all luggage and equipment on to camels, maybe horses. Trek a short day south through inhabited lush valleys. Trail finders are local Kazakh people who are also the owners of our support animals, like camels or horses. Local people keep also yaks, goats and sheep. (Tents/BLD).
Day 16-17 Trek (3150m-2450m, 6-7hrs)
Today we will continue south through valleys, however now likely devoid of any people as we ascend to higher altitudes towards and across the Jolt Pass (3150m) which is the highest point of the trek, crossing the part called Tsengel Hairhan Nuruu. If the skies are clear (which is likely in June) there will be magnificent views of the snowcapped Altai Mountains. Next day, trek through uninhabited lush valleys in the Altai Mountains. Day 18-19 Trek (1850m-2950m, 6-7hrs)
Today we turn north again gaining altitude again opening up for the mountain landscapes surrounding us and we will again come down towards the marsh lands near the southern tip of Dayan Lake as we enter Altai Tavanbogd National Park here. We can now see a new group of nomads camps in the distance, who have their summer pastures in the basin of Dayan Lake.Second day, trek (2950m-2425m, 5-7hrs) Trek day northwest direction along the wetlands until we reach the Dayan Lake. Local people are in quite large number as the area has rich pastures usually due to the run off of water from the mountains and the lake side riparian zone. There is difficult to see wildlife here such as Brown Bears and Red Deer (Cervus elaphus). (Tents/BLD).
Day 20 Dayan Nuur Trek (2425m-2550m, 5-7hrs)
Full day trek along the Dayan Lake with crystal clear transparent waters. The open vistas allows for great views of the snow capped mountains – among them Mt Holagash – in the distance. Hopefully pitching camp at the north end of the lake. The trek is great for fishing for Lenok Trout (Lenok brachymystax) and Grayling (Thymallus arcticus) of which Mongolia has four species, and in this area, the largest of all Graylings of the circumpolar north. Great sunset and sunrises here. The lake is rich in bird life of ducks, Whooper Swans, geese, cormorants and gulls. (Tents/BLD)
Day 21 To Drive towards Altai Tavan Bogd Peaks
After early breakfast, we start our driving towards Altai Tavan Bogd Peaks. Drive through the dramatic steppe valley along the river that drains from the Altai Tavanbogd massif, creating a series of beautiful lakes.On the way, we stop near Bashakhan’s family-Kazakh Eagle hunter. Visit his family and feel their grade hospitalities. Bashakhan keep many horses to milk and make a koumiss (nomadic beer). You have a chance see his grade golden eagle and learn some hunting skills. After lunch here, we continue our driving and reach road end near Potanin Glacier. (Tents/BLD)
Day 22-24 Tavanbogd massif (2550m-3300m, 4025m)
First day, trek for 25 km toward the base camp of the snow-capped Tavanbogd massif. Pitch camp next to the Potanin glacier – the biggest of the twenty glaciers in Mongolian Altai. Remain there for two nights. Tavanbogd means “The Holy Five”, referring to the five highest peaks, of which Huiten Uul is the highest in Mongolia, 4374 meters above sea level. Quite a considerable height at this altitude. It is a stunning setting with the awe-inspiring massif of high snow-capped peaks. Second day, rest day and soft hiking around Third day, for a full day (7-8hrs) we will make day hikes to the Malchin Uul. These are non-technical climbs. Overnights in same campside. (B,L,D).
Day 25 Drive to Olgii
After driving 185 km, we reach Olgii and transfer to Blue Wolf Restaurant and have a lunch. The bazaar in Olgii is interesting, as well as the mosque, which has been renovated in recent times. You have the whole day to visit Olgii. There are some very interesting back street handicraft shops and a well-stocked local museum. During a dinner you will enjoy with Kazakh short concert. Overnight at Blue Wolf gercamp. (BLD)
Day 26 Fly to UB
After breakfast, transfer to Olgii airport to catch a flight for Ulaanbaatar. Meet by our guide and transfer to hotel. After lunch, we will do city site seeing tour. Explore Gandan Monastery, Buddhist center in Ulaanbaatar. See Zanabazar Museum Chojin Lama temple. Lunch time in a typical Mongolian Restaurant. The winter Palace Buda Big Statue on the Hill Central market (black) (one or two hours if we have time) Typical folkloric Mongol performance (songs and dances), at the restaurant, during Dinner time (optional). Overnight in 3* or 4* hotel. (B)
